New Year’s Eve in Boston

You will need to bring either a printed Eventbrite ticket or show the app on your phone. If you don’t have a paper ticket or the phone app, you can use your ID to pick up your ticket. Please be ready when you get to the top of the line. We’ll be checking in hundreds of crawlers and nobody wants to be stuck behind the person who doesn’t have any of their stuff ready. Only the ticket buyer needs to be present. If multiple tickets were bought, you’ll get all your goodies at once and you can pass on the extras to your friends.

Check In takes place at the following:

12:00 – 1:20 – Vanderbilt – 105 Water Street

1:30 – 3:00 – Vintage Lounge – 72 Broad Street

Bar schedule:

We have 12 bars in the Faneuil Hall/Financial District area planned. There is another big crawl from another group that day and we’re planning to visit places not associated with their schedule.

You will receive the entire schedule when you check in on Saturday. All the bars will be in the Faneuil Hall and Financial District areas. We are not releasing the schedule prior to the crawl, as we want to keep this event as exclusive as possible for your own comfort. Please note, the bars have the right to refuse entry to anyone due to bar capacity or personal incapacity. Also, you will need to show a valid license or ID to gain entry to each of the bars (this is the bars policy).

CASH IS KING

I know that bringing your card might be easy. But when tons of people are trying to order drinks, it takes a lot more time to open and close a tab than to pay with cash. Plus you’d be surprised about how many people forget to close their tabs at the end of the night and leave for home without their credit cards. There are multiple ATMs around Faneuil Hall…check one out. Also, remember to tip your bartenders!

Remember to drink responsibly and use public transportation. Don’t drink and drive!

Vanilla Bourbon Cranberry Sauce

With our annual Friendsgiving coming up, I wanted to try something new. Don’t get me wrong, I love the stuff from the can. It’s what I grew up on. Ridges and all.

However I figured I’d go a little outside my comfort level and when I found a recipe featuring bourbon I knew it would be perfect to try.

Thanks to eat, live, run for the recipe. It was very easy for a novice like myself to make.

Ingredients:

14 oz fresh cranberries

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

2 tbsp bourbon

1 tbsp vanilla extract (I was able to find vanilla bourbon extract)

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a large saucepot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until cranberries burst and begin to break down, about 10-15 minutes. Stir well and remove from heat. Sauce will thicken up greatly as it cools.

Truth be told, I went more the 2 tbsp that the recipe called for. Which led to a little trouble as my sauce wasn’t thickening very well as it cooled. A little research online pointed me to a dash of cornstarch and that did the trick.

Next year I think I’m going to try something similar using a slow cooker.
