Bocce In Boston – Winter 2011

Posted on Updated on

We’ve now filled over 50% of our spots. Season is begins in mid-January but we’re way ahead of pace. Don’t wait too long. The first batch of shirts for teams that have signed up arrived today. As you can see, some people use real names. Some people use nicknames. It’s all up to you on what you want on your custom shirt.

This year Crawl In Boston will be joining our friends at Tenon Tours for their 2011 St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl. Tenon Tours throws the premier St. Patty’s Day Crawl in New England and we’re super excited for their 3rd annual event.

You and thousands of your closest friends will meet up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 12th, 2011. We’ve teamed up with the area’s best Irish pubs to bring you an event that has been ranked as one of the Top 10 things to do in Boston for St. Patrick’s Day by Boston.com.

Date: Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Time: 12pm – 12am

Registration: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Schedule: TBA

As in years past, we’ll have two “teams” during the crawl. This year, we’re going to have 10-20 pubs with each team representing a different pub, so sign up early to ensure you’re on your favorite pub team! Team capacity is limited.

Past pubs have included: Ned Devine’s, The Harp, Kitty O’Shea’s, McFadden’s, Jose McIntyre’s, Dooley’s, An Tain, Trinity, Black Rose, The Purple Shamrock, Hennessy’s, Paddy O’s, Clark’s, and more!

Bostonians sure know how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. You will certainly want to get in on this event. It only costs $25 (which pretty much saves you from the cover charges and lines alone). But you get so much more…

Mardi Crawl is Today

Posted on Updated on

Hello Crawlers!  We’re excited to see you tomorrow at our first Mardi Gras Crawl.  As always, we’ll be collecting your $5 (or more!) donation.  Exact change is always GREATLY appreciated and it keeps the line moving.  If you haven’t already, take a minute to check out our charity’s webpage:
We’ll be giving out wristbands, nametags, beads, as well as koozies (limited to the first 400).  In addition, this time we’ll have a Mardi Gras standup. You can take your picture with it, and have the coolest profile picture of all your friends! Our staff will be at each scheduled bar for the first 25 minutes. Takes time to pack up and move onto the next. Please be nice as we’re all volunteers.
Also, the numbers on the Facebook event are jumping up, so the bars may be crowded.  We and the bars’ staff thank you in advance for your patience.  Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates.
Don’t forget, next week is the St. Patty’s Day Crawl hosted by our friends at Tenon Tours!  This one is always a great time.

Mardi Crawl 3/5/11

Posted on Updated on

Crawl In Boston BeadsPlease join Crawl in Boston to tour the Faneuil Hall area. We’re excited to be bringing you our first Mardi Gras Crawl. Once again we’ll be supporting the Horizons for Homeless Children Charity. We are especially excited about this as our donation for this event will be matched!

Per usual, each bar will be providing a $3 or less drink.

Who is Crawl in Boston?

Crawl in Boston is a social networking group that gives professionals a chance to meet new people in a casual and fun atmosphere. People of all ages have gathered to join the bar crawls, and we’ve raised money and goods for local charities. We also spread the word about other similar events we’ve heard about, as well as new places and bar/restaurant specials. We’re bringing people together, one drink at a time for local charities.

What is Horizons for Homeless Children?

They help children learn how to play, to share, to read, and to enjoy exploring their worlds. They help parents learn how to be nurturing and involved in the growth and development of their children, and help them learn and grow through job training, GED and college courses. They help to stabilize families so that they can weather any crisis, and thus help to break the cycle of homelessness that too often occurs.

What does this event cost?

We are asking for $5.00 to attend. Please keep in mind that proceeds of your donation will go towards the Horizons for Homeless Children charity. However everyone who donates will also be receiving:

*Crawl in Boston Nametag

*Crawl in Boston Beverage Koozie

*Crawl in Boston Mardi Gras Beads

*Crawl in Boston Stamp – To guarantee drink specials and no covers

Crawl in Boston wants to provide you with as much fun as possible for as little as possible! – Crawlers are responsible for their own drinks.

Pictures from some of our past events can be found here

How Do I Sign Up?

We ask you RSVP on the Facebook event ASAP. This gives us a better idea on how many people are coming. We can better arrange our schedule so the bars have enough staff to accommodate you all. Also helps let us know how many koozies and beads to order.

What’s the schedule?

The schedule has been released. Check it out here!

You don’t have to arrive at the 1st bar. Feel free to come and go as you please.

The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:

The Blog-Health-o-Meter™ reads Wow.

About 3 million people visit the Taj Mahal every year. This blog was viewed about 55,000 times in 2010. If it were the Taj Mahal, it would take about 7 days for that many people to see it.

This was a huge jump as the blog was viewed about 27,000 times in 2009.

In 2010, there were 54 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 157 posts. There were 78 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 17mb. That’s about 2 pictures per week.

The busiest day of the year was December 4th with 2,157 views.

Where did they come from?

The top referring sites in 2010 were facebook.com, calendar.boston.com, boston.going.com, hubnights.com, and boston.com.

Some visitors came searching, mostly for boston pub crawl, crawl in boston, pub crawl boston, 12 bars of christmas boston, and cupid.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!  We hope you had a great holiday season.  2010 was huge for Crawl in Boston and the Socialize In Boston family. We’re looking forward to an even more outstanding 2011.  2010 brought us a big increase in crawl attendance and we raised a record amount of money for our charities.  2010 also brought the start of our mini golf , bocce and pub pong leagues, which were tons of fun.  Mini golf and bocce start up on January 12, and a few team spots still remain.  Pub pong will be back later in the year.

To give you a taste of what we have in store for 2011, In about a month, it’s time for our  biggest  crawl of the year, the Valentines Day Crawl on February  12.  March 5th will bring us a brand new crawl, the Mardi Gras Crawl.  Then we’ll be heading back out to the open seas in May with the Pirate Crawl.  We’re also working on a few different afternoon competition-style parties (such as our pub pong tournament), so look forward to hearing  about those in the future.

Thanks for making 2010 an amazing year to Socialize in Boston!  We look forward to knocking one back with you soon.

Happy Holidays!

Hello Bocce Ballers and Mini Golfers!
We hope you had a great holiday season, I know we did, especially now that the Pats have locked home field advantage.  After the first of the year, you have a few weeks to rest from the craziness of the holidays, but we know you’ll start getting restless soon….just in time for the start of bocce and minigolf!  We can’t wait to see our seasoned returning players as well as meet our rookies.  We know you’ll all have a great season.  If you’re traveling, make it back to Boston safe and sound, and if you’re here, stay inside warm and dry….maybe have a cocktail or two to keep you nice and toasty.  Happy New Year!
We do have spots remaining so if you still want to play in either league (or both!), beginning January 12th, there’s still time. No official registration date has been set yet. Once we fill, we’ll close it. But to guarantee your shirt by the first week, please register by Wednesday December 29th. Whether you have a full team or looking to join a team we’ll be able to help. More details at
Cheers!
