About Us

Crawl In Boston started in 2003 when Jay Johnston moved back to Boston from San Diego. In San Diego, his friends were doing bar crawls of their own around town just for fun. These pubs crawls were just for friends and ranged from 10-15 people. Complete strangers were always asking how to be a part of them. Once Jay returned, he realized there was definitely potential to have some fun crawls in Boston.

With the help of Craigslist, Crawl In Boston (then known as Boston Bar Crawl) was born and the 1st official C.I.B. crawl (Davis Square Bar Crawl) was launched in the spring of 2003. Crawl In Boston began to grow via word of mouth to themed crawls ranging from 200 to 1,000 people.

Crawl in Boston is a social networking group that provides a way to meet new people in a casual and fun atmosphere. People of all ages have gathered to join the bar crawls, and by asking crawlers for optional donations, we’ve raised money for local charities such as Jumpstart, Horizons for Homeless Children, and Birthday Wishes.  In return, we have giveaways, prizes (i.e. Best Costume at applicable crawls), and free appetizers at many of the bars.  So not only do crawlers make new friends, find new partners (Crawl In Boston is responsible for at least 5 weddings), they make a positive impact on the local community, and may even get a little something in return!

Crawl In Boston is hopeful that we will become a social community where crawlers from across the Boston area and other cities can congregate and share in the fun that is Crawl In Boston. We’re bringing people together, one drink at a time.
